In 1927, J. Crockett Guynn opened the Hillsville Hardware Store on this site, selling hardware, furniture and caskets. The frame building burned in the Great Fire of 1931, which destroyed most of downtown Hillsville. The fire started in the hardware store and quickly spread up and down Main Street. In 1932, Guynn rebuilt the building, now occupied by this restaurant. The original Hillsville Hardware was a focal point of community life and the Main Street economy until 1969, when the Guynn family built its new store on North Main Street. With the original tin ceiling, hardwood floors, and rich history, this building is an important element of Hillsville's Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The owners of the Hardware Co. are committed to helping our Mayor and Town government preserve and revitalize our Historic District.
